Wilderness

Wilderness

Wednesday, March 11, 2026

Scripture: Exodus 17:1–4

Scripture Summary
The Israelites are in the wilderness with no water, and they begin to complain to Moses. In their fear and frustration, they wonder whether God is really with them.

Devotion
Wilderness faith is hard.

It is one thing to trust God when life feels settled. It is another thing to trust when resources are low, nerves are frayed, and the future feels uncertain. That is where Israel finds itself.

Truthfully, that is where many of us find ourselves, too. We look around at the world, at our communities, at our own burdens, and we wonder, “Is God really with us in this?”

The wilderness does not mean God has abandoned us. Sometimes it is the very place where God will provide what we need.

Prayer
God of the wilderness, when I am tired and uncertain, hold me steady and remind me that you are still with me. Amen.

Testimony

Testimony

Scripture: John 4:27–42

Scripture Summary
The woman leaves her jar behind and runs back to the city to tell others about Jesus. Her testimony leads many people to come and see for themselves, and many believe.

Devotion
Sometimes the most powerful witness is simply telling the truth about what God has done for you.

The woman at the well does not have all the answers. She does not preach a perfect sermon. She simply says, in effect, come and see.

That still matters. In a world full of cynicism and hurt, people are often not looking for polished words. They are looking for real faith, real kindness, real hope.

Maybe our calling is not to have everything figured out. Maybe it is simply to point toward Jesus with honesty and joy.

Prayer
God, give me courage to share your goodness in simple, genuine ways that invite others to come and see. Amen.

Conversation At The Well

Conversation At The Well

Monday, March 9, 2026

Scripture: John 4:16–26

Scripture Summary
As the conversation continues at the well, Jesus and the Samaritan woman speak about life, faith, and worship. Jesus teaches that true worship is not about a particular mountain or temple, but about worshiping God in spirit and in truth.

Devotion
What begins as a simple request for water turns into a deep conversation about life and faith.

Jesus meets this woman in the middle of an ordinary day, beside an ordinary well, and speaks with her about the things that matter most, about God, about truth, about worship. It reminds us that holy conversations often happen in the most everyday places.

God meets us there, too. In quiet moments, unexpected conversations, and the ordinary rhythms of life, Christ invites us to live honestly before God and to worship with open hearts.

Lent gives us space to slow down and notice those moments again.

Prayer
God of living truth, open my heart to your presence in the ordinary moments of my life. Amen.

Thirsty

Thirsty

Sunday, March 8, 2026

Scripture: John 4:5–15

Scripture Summary
Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at the well and asks her for a drink. Then Jesus speaks of “living water,” the kind of gift only God can give, water that truly satisfies the deepest thirst of the soul.

Devotion
We know what it is to be thirsty. Sometimes it is not physical thirst, but spiritual thirst, worn-out hearts, tired spirits, and the ache that comes from carrying too much for too long.

The world feels thirsty, too. There is so much noise, division, and weariness around us. And yet here is Jesus, sitting at a well, meeting someone in the middle of an ordinary day and offering life.

That is how grace often comes, not in grand displays, but in quiet encounters. Lent invites us to be honest about what is dry within us and to let Christ meet us there.

Prayer
Jesus, living water, meet me in the dry places of my life and fill me again with your grace. Amen.

Scripture: Genesis 12:1–3

Scripture Summary
God’s call to Abram includes a blessing meant to be shared. Abram’s faith becomes a channel of blessing for the world.

Devotional
Lent reminds us that faith is never just for ourselves. As God reshapes our hearts, we are sent to be a blessing to others. Even small acts of faithfulness can become signs of God’s grace in the world.

Prayer
God of blessing, shape my life so that others may experience your love through me. Help me live generously and faithfully. Use me as an instrument of your grace. Amen.

Promises

Promises

Scripture: Romans 4:13–17

Scripture Summary
God’s promises are rooted in faith and grace, extending beyond boundaries and generations. God gives life and hope where it seems impossible.

Devotional
God’s promises are bigger than our limitations. Lent invites us to trust that God is still bringing life out of places that feel barren or broken. Hope is not naïve; it is grounded in God’s faithfulness.

Prayer
Promise-keeping God, renew my hope when I feel discouraged. Help me trust that you are still at work, even when I cannot yet see it. Strengthen my faith. Amen.

Moves Freely

Moves Freely

Monday, March 2, 2026

Scripture: John 3:1–8

Scripture Summary
Jesus tells Nicodemus that new life comes through the Spirit, not human effort or certainty. Like the wind, the Spirit moves freely, unseen yet powerful.

Devotional
We like control and clarity, but the Spirit does not work that way. Lent invites us to loosen our grip and trust God’s movement in our lives. Faith grows when we allow the Spirit to lead us into places we may not have chosen on our own.

Prayer
Holy Spirit, move freely in my life. Help me trust you even when I cannot see the way ahead. Shape me into the person you are calling me to be. Amen.

Matthew 4:8–11

Temptations

Matthew 4:5–7

Scripture Summary: The tempter urges Jesus to prove God’s care through spectacle, twisting Scripture to provoke doubt. Jesus responds by refusing to test God, choosing trust over manipulation.

Devotion: It’s tempting to demand signs when faith feels fragile. Jesus shows us that trust grows not through proof, but through steady faithfulness, even when God seems silent.

Prayer: God, help me trust You without needing proof or control. Amen.
