Scripture: John 9:1–7
Scripture Summary
Jesus encounters a man who has been blind since birth. Rather than debating whose fault the blindness might be, Jesus reveals that God’s works can be made visible through unexpected circumstances. Jesus places mud on the man’s eyes and tells him to wash in the pool of Siloam, and the man returns able to see.
Devotional:
We spend a lot of time asking why. Why did this happen? Why is life unfair? Why do difficult things happen to good people? In this story, Jesus refuses to get caught in blame or speculation. Instead, Jesus focuses on what God can do in the present moment. Sometimes faith means shifting from asking why this happened to asking what God might be doing now. Even in difficult seasons, God can still bring light.
Prayer:
God of light, help me trust that your presence is at work even in the places I do not fully understand. Amen.
